Needs Assessment

The first logical phase in a GIS is to conduct a Needs Assessment. This is an evaluation of the current resources and user needs for a GIS.

We will conduct an inventory of existing GIS data to determine what is already available. We also inventory hardware and software to determine what needs to be done to meet the requirements for a standard GIS. User capabilities are also studied to assist in the scheduling of necessary training so that individual users are able to fully utilize the GIS by understanding its capabilities.

Implementation Plans

Once the needs of the users are determined, often the next step is to create a plan of action in order to implement the GIS to meet those needs. We determine an appropriate schedule that fits into existing budgetary constraints, itemize projected costs, and recommend the course of action that will enable the client to create a GIS that is most suited for their needs.

ArcIMS Web Site Development

Poepping, Stone, Bach & Associates, Inc. can develop and maintain your ArcIMS web site. ArcIMS provides a way to distribute GIS data and mapping services using the internet and a web browser. Users will have the ability to display, query, analyze and print data. Some of the most common applications for an ArcIMS site would be a county or municipality that would like to disseminate their GIS data to multiple users, without having to purchase multiple copies of software and avoid sending users to expensive off-site training.

Data Conversion
