This design-build project consisted of the interior renovation of an existing industrial building located on
a 10 acre site in Rockford, Illinois. The existing precast concrete panel building contained 76,500 square
feet on the main floor with a 2,346 square feet mezzanine. Several trenches and pits were removed and
the concrete floor was patched. After demolition occurred, the interior walls and exposed roof joists were cleaned and painted. The existing ballasted EPDM roof was patched where roof top equipment
was removed or added.
New foundations were designed for the new bridge crane columns and jib cranes. Concrete pads were
added on the exterior of the building for the owner’s specialty equipment. Two large external spray
rooms with hoist beams and a paint storage room were designed for the east side of the building.
