Keokuk Yacht Club, Keokuk, Iowa
The existing yacht club was built approximately 40 years ago and grew through a process of small and
large additions. PSBA was asked to design a 2,000 square foot addition to this facility which would be an
upgrade to their dining/meeting area. It was also necessary to remodel a significant area (2,500 square
feet) of their existing club area. Mechanical and electrical systems throughout the entire building were
upgraded to meet new building code requirements.
It was also necessary to structurally evaluate the existing boathouses to verify the appropriate
attachment of the new addition. The roof of the addition was a pre-engineered roof system. The facade
of the building made a very dramatic addition to the shoreline of the Mississippi River. The interior of
the main room has a cathedral ceiling, large expanses of glass overlooking the Mississippi, an intricate
floor design, and subdued lighting. The intent was to create a quality experience inside the building
comparable to the excellent views of the Mississippi River.
