Salem Evangelical Church Exterior Renovation, Quincy, Illinois
This was an extensive restoration of the exterior of one of Quincy’s oldest and largest Churches. The
scope of the work included tuck-pointing, selective (minimal) brick replacement, stone resetting, and
cleaning and waterproofing the masonry.
Sheet metal work was also a major portion of the exterior work. Identical pieces were custom made to
replicate the original metal piece that had to be replaced due to extensive rusting. Replacement pieces
were fabricated from galvanized metal as well as lead coated copper. All metal work was repainted
using a combination of epoxy and urethane paints. This makes a very durable paint. Other items of work
included new window storm panels, steeple repairs, roof repairs, and gold leafing of the cross and spire
on the top of the steeple.
