PSBA was hired by the City of Quincy to provide the Structural Engineering and Architectural Preservation design and specifications for the iconic South Eighth Street Stone Arch Bridge. Our services on the project lead to providing a bidding document where Contractors were instructed to:
Remove and catalog historic railing, repair, clean, re-galvanize and re-install.
Remove and catalog limestone cap and deteriorated limestone wall. Relay salvaged stone and limestone cap with new mortar and flashing.
Tuck-point select areas and stabilize large openings with mortar joint repair.
Remove chlorides (soluble salts) from limestone and mortar elevation facing traffic lanes.
Clean organic staining from the limestone masonry structure.
Clean graffiti and apply anti-graffiti protection system.
