PSBA has been offering architectural design services since 1973. We have designed a wide variety of projects as indicated in the project examples. Our experience allows us to perform new building design, provide rehabilitation and renovation to existing buildings, and restore/preserve historic buildings. The PSBA staff can provide full design services from preparing conceptual design drawings through the construction document phase, as well as construction administration. We can also offer alternative design services by partnering with a general contractor for design/build projects.
We have extensive experience with designing a wide variety of commercial uses, offices for the private sector as well as for city, county, state and federal government agencies. We have also been involved with designing numerous financial institutions. Our projects include new structures as well as remodeling and retrofitting existing buildings into new uses.
As a team, we have provided design services for private and public grade schools, junior high schools, high schools, community colleges, colleges and universities in the tri-state area. In the design process we work hard to ensure more efficient, cost effective designs to optimize the building and its user’s capabilities.
We have worked for federal, state, regional and municipal authorities and agencies. Our work includes designing facilities for safety and law enforcement, courthouses, detention and correctional facilities, offices, 911 centers, libraries, fire stations, ambulance garages, and public housing projects.
In working with our industrial clients, our staff understands the importance of minimizing downtime, while incorporating advanced technology and efficiencies of design to maximize reliability and maintainability in the facility. We have design experience in facilities for vehicle repair, trucking, manufacturing, warehouses, water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plans, research and development laboratories
While working on a plethora of medical projects including; dental offices, veterinary clinics, Alzheimer wards, physical therapy buildings, and nursing homes to name a few, PSBA has had the opportunity to understand the requirements needed in the design of medical spaces to ensure the best patient experience while improving the healthcare team’s environment.
PSBA has assisted many community leaders by improving local park conditions, building shelter houses and pavilions, designing and remodeling gymnasiums, and many addition/ remodel projects with the local YMCA. While working on these project designs, PSBA keeps the communities needs in mind while ensuring the best use of the taxpayer’s funds.
PSBA has experience with all facets of religious institutional design. Our firm has been involved with the restoration of existing construction, new additions to existing facilities, ADA compliant design, and new building design as well. We as a firm work hard to ensure the optimum design outcome while minimizing the disturbance to the congregation.
Renovation work has been a cornerstone of our firm. PSBA has been involved with a large variety of renovation projects that include adaptive reuse, historic preservation and restoration, tuck pointing and stone repair, making existing buildings ADA compliant, window and door upgrades, reroofing with various materials, facade upgrades, and additions to existing buildings.
We have staff that is certified in Illinois as an Asbestos Inspector, Asbestos Management Planner and Asbestos Project Manager. They can perform asbestos surveys on buildings to be remodeled or demolished and take samples to have tested and then determine the appropriate abatement protocol to follow.
